The Multidimensional Tourism Institute (MTI) is the largest expert organization in the field in Lapland. MTI brings together the know-how at Lapland Tourism College, the University of Lapland and the Lapland University of Applied Sciences. The Institute boasts a student body of over 1200 tourism students and a staff of 120.
Established in 2009, MTI has pursued intensive and concrete cooperation between institutions at different levels in teaching, research and service activities. Cooperation of this nature bridging levels of the educational system and the boundaries between institutions is unique in Finland and rare internationally, yet it brings many benefits. For example, MTI offers its students an exceptionally broad range of courses and programmes.
In developing education and research in tourism, MTI cooperates closely with the business community in Lapland, the international scientific community, and the relevant educational organizations and authorities. The Institute provides a foundation that facilitates the work throughout the tourism sector and in this role highlights what the sector has to offer.
